The 19th Amendment

Picture
The 19th Amendment was ratified on August 26,1920, just a year after Anna Howard Shaw died. Although she didn't see what her efforts would soon lead to, she will always be remembered as a hero for women.

The 19th amendment states that all United States citizens can vote no matter what sex they are and that Congress has the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

It took over 40 years to get the 19th Amendment and was brought to congress first in 1878. When the amendment was finally passed the words of the amendment were never changed from when they were first introduced.
